FAQ
What are the kids classes like?
Kitchen Table offers cooking classes that cater to all ages and skill levels, fostering a love of food in a fun, safe, and hands-on environment.
From toddlers exploring the wonders of taste and texture to high schoolers becoming kitchen confident, kids will:
Learn basic culinary techniques, like knife skills, recipe reading, and ingredient preparation.
Discover the vast world of healthy and diverse flavors.
Unleash their inner chefs through creativity and collaboration.
Classes typically consist of 8 to 10 children, ensuring personalized attention and a nurturing space for growth.
By providing a platform for exploration and discovery, Kitchen Table empowers children to develop essential life skills, build confidence in the kitchen, and cultivate a lifelong love of cooking.
What about allergies?
We are a nut-free kitchen. Our chefs happily make substitutions for other allergies when possible, but due to the frequency of classes using flour, eggs, and dairy, and the family-style sharing nature of many events, some severe allergies may not be fully accommodated. Please contact us when booking to discuss your needs, and we'll do our best to assist. If a class doesn't work for you, consider another one or suggest future classes that would! We're always open to feedback.
Can kids attend adult events?
Kitchen Table is a culinary studio that specializes in teaching children ages 2 to 17. However, we also offer specialty classes and evening events designed for adults only. Occasionally, we will host family-friendly classes, but we will always specify and post the age restrictions. Family classes are strictly meant for parents and their children to attend the class and cook together.
What should I expect in the adult classes?
First, you’ll scrub up, don your apron, and mingle with fellow foodies before the lead chef introduces themselves and goes over what’s cooking. Then you’ll choose a station that sparks your culinary curiosity, or let Chef guide you to the perfect spot.
Our classes are a true hands-on experience, so come prepared to get that apron dirty. Whether you're a kitchen novice or a gourmand, our chefs will lead you through every step of the culinary journey.
Worried about working with knives? No problem, we will expertly guide you through basic skills. Not sure cooking is for you? Don’t worry, there's plenty of ways to be useful and have fun at these events. Just want to observe and soak up the knowledge? That’s cool too, as long as you're having fun and not distracting others. We encourage your participation in any way you feel comfortable.
From prepping ingredients to mastering cooking techniques, you'll gain valuable skills and confidence in the kitchen. For time-saving purposes, some recipes may involve pre-prepared elements, but our chefs will always explain the process and share all the details. Plus, you'll get the recipes to take home to recreate the magic!
Should I wear special clothing?
While we applaud anyone who can cook in high heels and a tutu, for safety reasons we recommend closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing with sleeves that roll up easily. We work around hot liquids and gas stoves, so keep that in mind when choosing your attire. And, since there's a lot of standing involved, comfy shoes are your best friend.
If adult events are BYOB, can we drink the entire time?
A glass before cooking is fine, but we recommend saving the rest for during the delicious meal. Safety first, fun always!
Do you offer refunds if I can’t attend?
Sorry, we do not. We spend a lot of time planning and preparing to give our guests a unique experience, so we cannot refund for any reason.
What if the class I signed up for is canceled?
We really do not like canceling classes, but if not enough people have signed up, unfortunately, we cannot run the class. You will be notified in advance and refunded in full if this happens.
Do you offer private event options?
Absolutely! Planning a unique birthday or corporate event? We can tailor a custom cooking experience for your group to match your preferences. Just let your guests know they’ll be rolling up their sleeves and getting hands-on in the kitchen. Together, you’ll create a delicious meal to enjoy around our large wooden table—a fun and memorable way to bond and celebrate! Contact Dawn for more information.
Why is there a service fee for private and adult classes?
We aim to operate a sustainable business and provide an above-standard work environment and wages for our professional staff. We include a 20% service charge for private events (15% for public adult classes) to cover additional service and processing fees. We have left you the opportunity to provide gratuity for your service staff. A combination of both allows us to hire and maintain staff in a competitive labor market.
Do you offer catering for private events?
No, all of our private events are intended to be hands-on cooking experiences.
Can I make a request?
Yes! We’d love to know what our community would like to see—and cook. What have you or your kids always wanted to learn about food and cooking? Send us an email, sign up for our mailing list on the home page, and follow us on Instagram and Facebook to stay in the loop. We can’t wait to cook with you!
Do you offer private classes for individuals or culinary degrees?
Sorry, we do not.
Can I give classes to someone as a gift?
Yes, and they will love it! Click here to purchase a Kitchen Table gift card.
